GARDEN COMPETITION: During the week commencing August 14, a person appointed by the Caernarfon Royal Town Council will visit council and private housing estates and the walled town to judge the best turned out front gardens, hanging baskets displays and window boxes. Back and side gardens, where visible will also be judged. The competition will include public houses, B &Bs, hotels, cafes and restaurants and will be co-sponsored by Fron Goch Garden Centre. Trophies, prizes and certificates will be presented by the Mayor at a ceremony in the Institute Building in the autumn. Previous winners are kindly requested to return their cups to the Town Clerk by the first week in September. Thema’r oedfa oedd Y Ffordd, a chyflwynwyd darlleniadau, gweddiau a myfyrdod pwrpaso la threiddgar ar ddysgeidiaeth yr Efengyl ynglyn a cherdded ffordd y Cristion yn y gymdeithas gyfoes. Marian Wyn Jones oedd yn gwasanaethu wrth yr offeryn a Gerallt Jones yn arwain y gan. Yn ystod y gwasanaeth estynwyd cydymdeimlad dwys yr aelodau a theulu a chyfellion y diweddar Meirion Hughes, Stryd Garnon, a chyfeiriwyd at ei ffyddlondeb i’r achos yn Seilo ac I gylchoedd diwylliannol a dinesig y dref ynghyd a’i gyfraniad sylweddol fel hanesydd lleol Tref Caernarfon.
