High praise for honest youngsters

-

HONEST youngsters have been praised by a couple for returning a purse containing cash, credit cards and other items, lost on a visit to Caernarfon.

Hamish Dawe and his wife, Jackie, visited the town on holiday in early September but, during that visit, Mrs Dawe lost her purse and did not notice for several hours later.

Mr Dawe said: “Jackie managed to lose her purse with all her money – over £100 – credit cards, store cards and everything else that a woman keeps in her purse.”

Then, last weekend, Mr Dawe returned home to find his wife with a big grin on her face.

“She told me she had been contacted by a John Broomhill, from Wirral but who has a girlfriend in Caernarfon,” he said.

“He had been walking through Caernarfon and had been approached by some kids who were in town and they told him that they had found a purse full of money and cards, and what should they do with it?

“John took the purse and, luckily, my wife’s phone number was in it so he contacted her and got our address and posted it back to us.

“It arrived at the weekend and it was all in tact, although a little damp.”

In a message sent to the clerk of Caernarfon Town Council, Mr Dawe said: “The youth of today are so often slated, but it looks like you have a good honest and trustworthy bunch in Caernarfon.

“Well done Caernarfon.”
