Two teams dominating the league

ARFON Ladies and Pwllheli are leading the way in Division One in the early stages of the Gwynedd and Anglesey Netball Winter League 2017/18 season.

Both teams made it two wins from as many starts last week.

Champions Arfon were always comfortabl­e in their 27-15 victory over Moniars.

Rachel Southall was Player of the Match for Arfon, Siwan Edwards for the opposition.

Pwllheli defeated Dyffryn Penygroes Ladies 28-19, however at half time the Llyn side were just 14-12 ahead.

Holyhead produced a big second quarter versus Tim o Walis which they won 11-3 to build the foundation­s for an eventual 30-16 triumph.

Arfon Celts ran out convincing 25-13 winners against Subway Warriors.

PoM: Celts - Felicity Smith; Subway - Alex Williams.

In Division Two, Genod y Dyffryn and Pwllheli Wildcats played out a thrilling 21-21 draw.

It stood 6-6 after the first quarter, Wildcats led 12-10 at half time, Dyffryn hit back hard to lead 18-15 entering the last, but the Llyn girls rallied in the curtain-closer to win it 6-3.

PoM: Genod y Dyffryn - Alaw Jones; Wildcats - Cara O’Neill.

It was not so close when Menai Mavericks took the the Amigos.

The Anglesey team romped to a 46-11 triumph, netting 13 goals in the second session/

PoM: Mavericks - Charlotte Lewis; Amigos - Heledd Davies.

After a close opener, Porthmadog put the Sombreros in the shade with an 18-10 success.

Llangefni beat Mon 28-16 in an Anglesey derby.
