Rain nearly halted Môn Eisteddfod
TORRENTIAL rain almost forced National Eisteddfod officials to halt the festival for the first time ever.
A storm on the first weekend of the event in Bodedern, Anglesey, in August flooded the car parks and turned the Maes into a quagmire.
Only the presence of a back-up plan for parking allowed the festival to continue, a report to the festival’s council has revealed.
The heavy rain rendered the car parks, which were on farmland, unusable.
A park-and-ride system had to be implemented on Monday, August 7, with two new parking sites introduced
