Award just what the doctor ordered

● A doctor from Ysbyty Gwynedd has been recognised for his excellence in teaching undergradu­ate medical students. Anil Mane, a consultant in elderly care at Ysbyty Gwynedd and Ysbyty Eryri in Caernarfon, received the Clinical Teacher of the Year award at this year’s Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board Staff Achievemen­t Awards. ● Dr Mane, from Bangor, started his work with the health board two years ago and volunteere­d to teach the subject of elderly care to the medical students from Cardiff University. ● This year the elderly care consultant was also handed the ‘Student Appreciati­on Award’ at the Surgam Ceremony at Cardiff University after being recognised by the students he had trained. ● Dr Mane said he was thrilled to receive the award for ‘Clinical Teacher of the Year’. He said: “I am very honoured to receive this award as I am always delighted to train the students who come to Ysbyty Gwynedd and Ysbyty Eryri.I am always thankful for the feedback they provide for me and I wish them all well in their careers. ● Pictured (left to right) BCUHB Chief Executive Gary Doherty, Clinical Teacher of the Year Award winner Dr Anil Mane and BCUHB Chairman Peter Higson.
