Bont title hopes dashed
BONTNEWYDD’S remote Gwynedd League title hopes ended last Saturday when they were thrashed 6-0 at Bro Goronwy.
Nefyn United were beaten 2-0 at Gwalchmai, while Llanystumdwy suffered a potentially fatal blow when they lost 3-1 at Llangoed and District, Joe Soar with a consolation goal.
Talysarn Celts called off their game against leaders Holyhead Hotspur. Holyhead established themselves as firm title favourites with a 7-2 caning of Waunfawr last Tuesday, Tom Hadley (3), Asa Thomas (2), Sion Davies and Jordie Murphy sharing the home tally.
Steve Jones scored the only goal as Nefyn United ended up 1-0 winners at Bontnewydd.
Kieran Owen (2), Jay Finter and Wayne Thomas sealed Llangoed and District a 4-3 win at Gwalchmai, Corey Sinnott (2) and Rob Williams for the beaten hosts. Jac Thomas hit four, Dylan Owen and Chris Byast one apiece as Bro Goronwy blitzed Talysarn Celts 6-1, Glyn Thomas replying, and Menai Bridge Tigers took the spoils 6-4 at bottom side Llanllyfni.
Dave Baston (3), Andy Wannop (2) and Sam Roberts shared the winners’ tally, Callum Evison (2), Carwyn Thompson and Sion Huws for the losers.
