Bont ti­tle hopes dashed

BONTNEWYDD’S re­mote Gwynedd League ti­tle hopes ended last Satur­day when they were thrashed 6-0 at Bro Goronwy.

Ne­fyn United were beaten 2-0 at Gwalch­mai, while Llanys­tumdwy suf­fered a po­ten­tially fa­tal blow when they lost 3-1 at Llangoed and District, Joe Soar with a con­so­la­tion goal.

Talysarn Celts called off their game against lead­ers Holy­head Hot­spur. Holy­head es­tab­lished them­selves as firm ti­tle favourites with a 7-2 can­ing of Waun­fawr last Tues­day, Tom Hadley (3), Asa Thomas (2), Sion Davies and Jordie Mur­phy shar­ing the home tally.

Steve Jones scored the only goal as Ne­fyn United ended up 1-0 win­ners at Bontnewydd.

Kieran Owen (2), Jay Fin­ter and Wayne Thomas sealed Llangoed and District a 4-3 win at Gwalch­mai, Corey Sin­nott (2) and Rob Wil­liams for the beaten hosts. Jac Thomas hit four, Dy­lan Owen and Chris Byast one apiece as Bro Goronwy blitzed Talysarn Celts 6-1, Glyn Thomas re­ply­ing, and Me­nai Bridge Tigers took the spoils 6-4 at bot­tom side Llan­l­lyfni.

Dave Bas­ton (3), Andy Wannop (2) and Sam Roberts shared the win­ners’ tally, Cal­lum Evi­son (2), Car­wyn Thomp­son and Sion Huws for the losers.
