Biker left fight­ing for his life af­ter crash

A BIKER was left fight­ing for his life af­ter a crash on the A487in Gwynedd.

The man, in his 20s, was air­lifted to hos­pi­tal in Stoke af­ter the in­ci­dent, near Dol­gel­lau .

Two mo­tor­cy­cles were in­volved in the crash. The driver of the other ve­hi­cle was said to be un­harmed.

Po­lice are now ap­peal­ing for wit­nesses to the col­li­sion, which hap­pened at around 2pm not far from the Cross Foxes pub at the junction with the A470, on Sun­day.

The road was closed in both di­rec­tions for sev­eral hours while emer­gency ser­vices worked at the scene.

As part of the in­ves­ti­ga­tion, of­fi­cers are look­ing for any wit­nesses who were in the area at the time with in­for­ma­tion about the in­ci­dent or who may have wit­nessed the mo­tor­cy­clists just be­fore­hand.

Later, a sec­ond mo­torist was in a se­ri­ous con­di­tion af­ter her ve­hi­cle crashed on the Crimea Pass.

The ca­su­alty, a woman, was flown to Stoke fol­low­ing the ac­ci­dent, which hap­pened on the A487 be­tween Dol­wyd­de­lan and the Slate Cav­erns at around 3pm on Sun­day af­ter­noon.

The road was closed in both di­rec­tions for over four hours while emer­gency ser­vices at­tended the scene.

Be­fore the bank hol­i­day week­end even started prop­erly, a mo­tor­cy­clist died fol­low­ing a two-ve­hi­cle crash near the A483 in Wrex­ham.

North Wales Po­lice con­firmed that the man was pro­nounced dead at the scene of the crash be­tween a mo­tor­cy­cle and a sil­ver Fiat 500 on the junction of the A525 and the A483 just af­ter 4pm to­day.

The road was closed but later re-opened and po­lice have said that en­quiries are now un­der way.

Sergeant Ray­mond Wil­liams of the Roads Polic­ing Unit said: “Sadly, this is now be­ing in­ves­ti­gated as a fa­tal road traf­fic col­li­sion and our thoughts re­main with the man’s fam­ily who are now be­ing sup­ported by a spe­cially-trained Fam­ily Li­ai­son Of­fi­cer.

“We know the area was busy at the time and we are ap­peal­ing to any­body who may have wit­nessed the col­li­sion, or to any­body who may have seen the mo­tor­cy­cle – that was trav­el­ling from the gen­eral di­rec­tion of Coed­po­eth – prior to the col­li­sion, to con­tact us.”

The crash was the sec­ond in the area, with a mo­tor­cy­clist taken to hos­pi­tal with se­ri­ous in­juries fol­low­ing a crash near the Post­house Round­about.
