OPEN DOORS POLICY TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL HERITAGE

Cadw programme offers free entry at landmarks

Caernarfon Herald - - NEWS - Joe Leaver

HUNDREDS of landmarks and buildings across the country are opening their doors throughout September for Cadw’s annual Open Doors programme.

From medieval castles, Neolithic burial chambers and museums – more than 300 sites are taking part, as a “celebration of the architecture and heritage of Wales”.

Locations will offer free entry, guided tours, activities or special events as part of this year’s scheme. Events, such as a guided walking tour of pubs in Ruthin and free entry into the Lloyd George Museum in Llanystumdwy, have already taken place as part of the 2018 programme.

Still to come is free entry into the historic quarry hospital in Llanberis and Yr Ysgwrn, the home of poet Hedd Wynn in Trawsfynydd.
