Promoted club plans ground upgrades
AGWYNEDD football club’s recent success looks set to spill over off the pitch after unveiling plans for a new community room and extension to its changing facilities.
This season has seen Caernarfon Town FC return to the Welsh Premier League, so far securing several creditable results in their first term back in the top flight.
But the club now plans to capitalise on this success by carrying out improvements to its Oval ground, having submitted a planning application to Gwynedd Council for the works on the Marcus Street end of the ground.
These include construction of a single-storey infill extension between the main stand and the existing changing rooms and committee room.
The structure will extend the size of the home dressing room as well as providing improved toilet facilities, baby changing and a com- munity room. The design and access statement accompanying the application notes: “The proposals will make attendance at the ground easier for wheelchair- bound users as there is no current disabled toilet facility, and use of the new community room.
“The site is located on the outskirts of the historic town of Caernarfon, within a predominantly residential area, with a Social Club located next to the main entrance into the site.”
It’s expected that Gwynedd Council planners will make a decision over the coming weeks.
