Initially he had approx. 40 hrs training with frequent updates. The scheme was put together by the Ambulance Service, to give assistance until an Ambulance arrives, in the beginning they usually attended Cardiac Arrests or other severe threat to life calls, now he attends more routine calls as well. He demonstrated resuscitation on a dummy and showed how to use a Defibrillator. A lot of the equipment has to be purchased by the Responder, this is mostly funded by donations. He usually averages one call a day. Clive gave an informative & interesting talk. Jean gave the vote of thanks. Raffle winner Joyce, Competition winners Margaret, Dilys & Jackie. Tea was served by Margaret & Pam WI: After being educated about the Rebecca Riots and the unfairness of tolls across Gwynedd by Dilys Williams in June, we were informed about the interesting holidays and destinations offered by Ffestiniog Travel delivered by Alan Heywood in July. So the WI were ready for their annual trip in August. President Joan Yates welcomed members to Fron Goch garden centre where we explored the plant section and shop before enjoying a satisfying lunch in the café. In the afternoon we drove to Yr Ysgwrn the farmhouse home of Hedd Wyn who was killed in Paschendale at the end of the First World War. It is poignant seeing the chairs he had won for his poetry especially the Black Chair awarded to him at the National Eisteddfod in Birkenhead when he was no longer alive to receive such an honour. The visit to Yr Ysgwrn ended with a lovely afternoon tea and cake in the café.
