Celts only light in disappointing round of matches

-

TALYSARN Celts were the only Herald area team to experience any reward in last weekend’s latest round of matches in the Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd League.

Travelling to Anglesey outfit Llangoed, the Celts came away with a 2-2 result, Wayne Thomas and Mitchell Jones netting for the hosts, but Tom Usher (pen) and Celt Owen responding.

After beginning life in the league with two heavy defeats, Mynydd Tigers responded positively by whipping Bontnewydd 5-0.

Ian Burgess, Kieran Bullock (2), Herbie Hofsteede and Chester Lloyd bagged the goals.

Gwalchmai thrashed Llanystumdwy 5-1, Mark Griffith and Corey Sinnott both with doubles for the islanders, Gethin Davies also on the mark, Bradley Williams for the travellers.

Bro Goronwy took the honours 4-0 at Waunfawr, Dan Jones, Sam Regan and Jac Thomas (2) sharing the Anglesey men’s goals tally.

In all truth, the islanders had enough chances to win more handsomely. Waunfawr’s Richard Jones smashed the ball against the post from a tight angle for the hosts before forcing Jonny Sweetser-Hawkes into a double close range save, firstly palming away then excelling with his feet whilst sat on the floor.

By that stage, however, the score was already 4-0.

Glantraeth v Nefyn United was postponed due to a bereavement.
