A large crowd attended Pete’s funeral with Canon Idris Thomas, Glanrafon taking the service and paying a tribute to Pete. He was born in 24 Cefn Hendre Caernarfon and attended the town schools and at an early age had his own newspaper round and on Saturday afternoons worked in a Fruit shop delivering its produce on his bike. As a child he sang in the LLanbeblig Church Choir.Pete loved working and his working life demonstrated this as he worked in various and interesting places. He left school to work in a slaughter house, then to Llanberis to build the Hydro Power,Kwix in Caernarfon and to Pwllheli as Manager, Crosville, Ready Mix firm, Taxi firm, Express Motors,Arriva Wales and their office in Llangefni, Police Headquarters in Caernarfon and their offices in St Asaph where he was a Communication Officer,Aber Bridge in Caernarfon and Traffic Wales in Conwy. He was very popular and respected amongst his fellow workers. He retired in January 2018.In July 1990 Heather and Pete were married by the Rev Harri Parri in Seilo Chapel Caernarfon. They lived in Caernarfon and then Cwm y Glo before coming to Deiniolen two and a half years ago where they were extremely happy in the village and amongst its people. Pete loved fishing with his best friend Jack and enjoyed football especially Everton;he was such a kind person and so ready to help everyone. Last June he was struck down by serious illness and operated upon in Maelor Hospital; he also attended Ysbyty Gwynedd where he was on dialysis and chemotherapy.Pete was very brave and never complained,he carried on and was cared for and supportrd by Heather and all the family and everyone at Alaw Ward and the Renal Department of Ysbyty Gwynedd. He loved children and thought the world of his grandchildren and fetching them daily from Ysgol Gwaen Gynfi meant everything to him.Outside the Crematorium the Police stood in honour of Pete and the recording of Donna Taggart singing “Jealous of the Angels” at the end of the service was an apt farwell to him.Donations in his memory were received towards Alaw Ward and Kidney Patients Association and the funeral arrangements were by E W Pritchard, 62 High Street,Llanberis.

ST MICHAELS CHURCH: On Sunday, December 30 the last Service in the beautiful St Michael’s Church was held, the reason being the building is in a very poor state of repair, and the cost of making it safe is way beyond the congregation’s capabilities, so it was decided that to continue the Sunday Worship in the Institute. The Cafe Worship will continue to be on the first Sunday in each month and there will be a Holy Eucharist on the third Sunday. Should this prove popular they will endeavour to have Worship each Sunday. Although the congregation will not be using the Church building many of the overheads continue, so hopefully each and everyone of you will continue to support as you have in previous years. Wendy and Beryl will still be planning and executing the monthly social events, the 100 Club and Savings will also continue and will be collecting the money for these in the next two weeks. Should you need to talk to either of us here are their phone numbers, 01286 677163 (Beryl) or 01286 676512 (Wendy).
