Fine win keeps Celts un­der-18s at 100%

CAERNAR­FON Celts Un­der-18s en­ter 2019 with a spot­less 100% win record, end­ing 2018 with a 62-45 vic­tory over Brom­bor­ough Bull­dogs U18s.

A tense first quar­ter saw both teams ex­e­cute game plans well. Celts guard Rhys Jones epit­o­mised his team mates’ de­ter­mi­na­tion show­ing ag­gres­sive at­tack­ing bas­ket­ball and a dis­ci­plined de­fen­sive ethic.

Tak­ing a slen­der one point lead into the sec­ond quar­ter Celts’ en­deav­ours be­gan to pay div­i­dends with guard Sean Jones fol­low­ing Rhys Jones’ lead with some amaz­ing fin­ishes around the bas­ket, scor­ing eight of his team’s 18 points in the quar­ter, the half end­ing 32-25 to Caernar­fon. Celts con­tin­ued to dom­i­nate into the fi­nal two quar­ters.

Celts’ U18s coach Aled Jones, who also cap­tains the se­nior side, said: “The Bull­dogs are a good team and we had to be at our best to beat them.”

MVP for Celts Rhys Jones (14 points) and top scorer was Sean Jones with 26.
