Fine win keeps Celts under-18s at 100%

CAERNARFON Celts Under-18s enter 2019 with a spotless 100% win record, ending 2018 with a 62-45 victory over Bromborough Bulldogs U18s.

A tense first quarter saw both teams execute game plans well. Celts guard Rhys Jones epitomised his team mates’ determination showing aggressive attacking basketball and a disciplined defensive ethic.

Taking a slender one point lead into the second quarter Celts’ endeavours began to pay dividends with guard Sean Jones following Rhys Jones’ lead with some amazing finishes around the basket, scoring eight of his team’s 18 points in the quarter, the half ending 32-25 to Caernarfon. Celts continued to dominate into the final two quarters.

Celts’ U18s coach Aled Jones, who also captains the senior side, said: “The Bulldogs are a good team and we had to be at our best to beat them.”

MVP for Celts Rhys Jones (14 points) and top scorer was Sean Jones with 26.
