Llanberis edge out Glan Conwy

LLANBERIS beat last year’s Division Two champions Glan Conwy as the Welsh Alliance League kicked off.

Gethin Wakeham and Tomos Saynor scored for the home side in a 2-1 result with Darren Landers replying for the visitors.

Elsewhere in Division One, a brace from Dave Maddock as well as goals from Luke Smith and Peter Jones saw Llandudno Albion beat Penrhyndeu­draeth 4-1.

Tom Smith scored a consolatio­n for the visitors.

Tom Mahoney gave Nantlle Vale the lead but a Danny Williams equaliser gave St Asaph City a point in a 1-1 draw at Maes Dulyn.

The most eye-catching result was undoubtedl­y Holyhead Hotspur’s 9-2 away thrashing of Prestatyn Sports.

Chris Jones scored a hat-trick with Robert Jones and Dewi Thomas both scoring a brace, Kenleigh Owen added another from the spot and an own goal completing the rout.

Denbigh Town were also big winners as they beat Mynydd Llandegai 4-1 thanks to two goals from Jake Walker, Mark Roberts and an Iwan Bohana own goal with Osian Jones replying.

Greenfield scored a 3-1 win against last season’s runners-up Bodedern.

In Division Two, Y Felinheli were on the receiving end of a 6-0 thrashing by Gaerwen as Iwan Williams (2), Darren Lewthwaite, Connor Gordon, Tim Cavanagh and Lee Jones all scored for the Anglesey side.

Craig Papirnyk, Jamie Banks and Mark Jones got the goals to give Pwllheli a 3-1 decision over Aberffraw.

In the Gwynedd League, reigning champions Menai Bridge Tigers were far too strong for Waunfawr, winning 5-1.

Mitchell Jones, Callum Davidson, Ryan Owen, Jordan Pritchard and Dafydd Healy scored the goals as Adam Lloyd hit a late consolatio­n for Waunfawr.

Jac Thomas scored a hat-trick as Bro Goronwy hammered Llanystumd­wy 5-0 which saw Ryan Jones and Jordan Edney (penalty) also on target.

Dylan Sion Jones and Carl Jones (2) scored as Nefyn United beat Bethesda Athletic 3-0.
