Council’s most lucrative car parks revealed:

- Gareth W Williams

LLANDUDNO’S promenade generated more parking revenue than any other council car park or street in North Wales, according to figures released by the region’s local authorities.

A freedom of information request found that Conwy Council raked in £353,350 from on-street parking charges at the promenade between April 2018 and March 2019 almost double that generated by its nearest rival.

Second on the list for parking revenue was the main car park in Barmouth, which brought in £297,158.66 over the 12-month period, this was mostly for Gwynedd Council but £14,767.51 was payable to Barmouth Town Council.

Coming in not far behind was Bodhyfryd car park in Wrexham, which brought in £239,503.62 to the county borough council.

A spokesperson for Conwy Council said: “The charges on The Parade in Llandudno are payable between 10am and 4pm. Demand for spaces on The Parade is high during the day, and pay and display charges help manage the demand.

“Income from pay and display contributes to keeping Conwy’s roads safe, clean and attractive.”
