Mum found dead after injecting ‘cocktail’ of drugs

-

A MOTHER-of-three was found dead with a “cocktail” of drugs in her system.

Sian Elizabeth Budski was found after her mother, Carys Williams, called a family friend to check on her, having not heard from her for a few days.

The friend called police after arriving at the property, where she looked through the kitchen window and spotted “needles and cans”.

Having forced entry in to the property at Pen y Bryn in Blaenau Ffestiniog, officers found the 42-year-old waitress lying on the floor in her living room next to hypodermic needles.

Officers said she appeared to have been “dead for some time” and there was no evidence of any disturbance at the property.

Toxicology results showed Ms Budski, who died in March, had taken a large quantity of drugs, including a large amount of quetiapine, a drug used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and depression.

She also had a “reasonable quantity” of cocaine in her system as well as a “fair amount” of methadone.

Coroner Dewi Pritchard Jones said Miss Budski died of quetiapine poisoning, and said that there was no evidence to she intended to take her own life.

Mr Jones said: “I have often wondered with drug-related deaths whether suicide was the intention but in this case there is nothing to suggest suicide.

“I am unable to imply that suicide was the cause of death, as the cocktail of drugs and the abuse of drugs could have been taken for an enhanced experience.

“The postmortem examination results and the toxicology reports show evidence she had injected herself shortly before her death, with needle marks between her first and second finger.

“Ms Budski had a reasonable quantity of cocaine in her system and a fair amount of methadone.

“Drug paraphernalia was also present at the property.”
