Heavy defeats for Amateurs and Darans

BLAENAU Ffestiniog Amateurs were well beaten at home by Bodedern Athletic in the Welsh Alliance Division One.

Dean Redmond, Aidan Clark and Tom Wood (2) scored the goals for the Anglesey side.

The result leaves Blaenau struggling in 14th place with only Prestatyn Sports and Llandyrnog United below them.

It was a similar story for Llanberis as they were beaten by the same score at Greenfield.

Sam Jones (2), Danny Calvert and Keiron Roberts were on target for the hosts.

Llanrug United were 4-2 winners against Penrhyndeu­draeth at Eithin Duon.

Kevin Lloyd (2), Carl Griffiths and Jonathan Sadler scored the home goals, Tom Smith and Steven Jones replying.

Glan Conwy edged to a 1-0 verdict at Nantlle Vale thanks to an early goal from Conor Davies.

Vale are currently the highest placed Gwynedd side in the division in sixth with Llanberis a couple of places below them in eighth.

In Division Two, the only league game of the day saw Gwalchmai move up to third with a 3-1 win against long-distance travellers Pwllheli.

The in-form Corey Sinnott struck twice to make it 11 goals for the season, while an own goal completed the scoring with Dafydd Jones converting a late penalty for the visitors.

Round two of the Take Stock Challenge Cup for Division Two sides produced goals, none more so than at Y Felinheli where the home side beat Holyhead Town 7-6.

Gruff John (5, 1 pen) and Iwan Owen (2) scored the home goals while Asa Thomas (2), Jordan Murphy, Gary Jo Owen, 16-year-old debutant Robert Thomas and Bryn Roberts were on target for the visitors.

In the Reserves Division, Llanberis and Llanrug United drew 1-1.

Jonny Cyster put the Darans ahead, but Gareth Griffiths equalised in the 89th minute.

Penmaenmaw­r Phoenix and Nantlle Vale drew 2-2 with Hayden Tidswell and Morgan Roberts scoring for the hosts, Iestyn Worth and Aaron Griffiths having put Vale 2-0 up.
