Bala fill boots at Penybont but Canaries downed by leaders TNS

- CYMRU PREMIER

AERON EDWARDS plundered his first goal for Connah’s Quay Nomads since his summer transfer from TNS as he helped the reigning champions retain their unbeaten record.

Edwards hammered home the third goal in a 4-1 win at Haverfordwest. Craig Curran struck twice and Declan Poole rounded off the triumph.

Louis Robles headed home twice in the space of three minutes for TNS as they ran out 4-0 victors at Caernarfon Town.

Dean Ebbe and Ben Clark got the other goals as they extended their 100 per cent record to three matches.

Barry Town made the long trip north worthwhile as they beat Flint Town United 1-0 thanks to Kayne McLaggon.

In a tepid first half, Nat Jarvis came closest to an opener when he headed against the crossbar. Barry keeper Mike Lewis made one superb, acrobatic save as he justified his place with new Swansea loanee Josh Gould on the bench.

After the break McLaggon came up with the game’s only goal when he was fouled in the box by Darren Thornton and stepped up to tuck the penalty in the bottom corner.

McLaggon went close to a second when he was denied by John Danby.

At the other end man of the match Lewis ensured victory with another spectacular stop. This one came late on to deny Mark Cadwallader. Cardiff Met earned a 1-1 draw at Cefn Druids as Liam Warman cancelled out a 17th-minute Druids strike from Jamie Reed. Bala Town hammered Penybont to go top for the day. Home side Penybont made a fast start and Lewis Harling tapped home in the ninth minute to put them ahead after some sloppy Bala defending. But the game turned on a 28th-minute red card for Penybont’s Kane Owen for a foul on Kieran Smith, and although the hosts held out until the break with 10 men, it didn’t last. Bala scored all five of their goals in the second half with Will Evans and

Chris Venables netting twice.

Venables’ second was a penalty after Evans had been fouled and there was still time for Smith to complete the scoring late on.

On Friday night, an 87th-minute equaliser from Neil Mitchell earned Newtown a point at home to Aberystwyth after Jamie Veale had given the visitors the lead before the break.
