Cyclist killed in crash with van named

A CYCLIST who died after a collision with a van in Gwynedd has been named.

Daniel Owain Evans, 45, was riding his bicycle in the direction of Parc Menai near Bangor on December 9 when he was involved in a crash.

Mr Evans, a health care solutions team leader for Seamas who lived in Felinheli, was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd following the incident on the A487 Faenol Hill near Penrhosgar­nedd, but died shortly after arriving.

The inquest into his death was opened last Wednesday in Caernarfon and adjourned.

A provisiona­l cause of death was given as “severe head, neck and chest injuries”.

The van driver, a 38-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and has since been released pending investigat­ions.
