SEVERE WEATHER HELP AND ADVICE
GWYNEDD Council is urging the county’s residents to make use of a new online resource that brings together information and guidance regarding preparing for severe weather.
The aim of www. gwynedd.llyw.cymru/ winter is to offer a one-stop-shop for the people of Gwynedd to get advice on preparing for wintry weather and for details about the support available to keep your home warm.
The new page includes information about:
Support to help you heat your home, including details on possible financial support to tackle fuel poverty;
The Gwynedd roads that are gritted and arrangements about salt bins in the county;
How to report a problem such as a fallen tree or streetlights that have broken;
How to get the latest weather warnings from Natural Resources Wales;
Met Office forecasts of severe weather;
The latest from partners such as the Health Board and the Emergency Services.
Councillor Nia Jeffreys, Gwynedd Council Cabinet Member for Corporate Support, said:
“Every year, the winter months bring their own sets of challenges, but we can all help lessen the effects by taking small steps to be ready. At the start of the year, it is a good time to ensure that you know what support is available should stormy or cold weather hit, and to think about what you can do to prepare.
“I’m very pleased that a new section on the Council’s website brings together useful information in one place that can be helpful for all of us.
“It includes information on roads that are gritted, how to inform the Council about problems arising because of the weather or how to sign-up for flood warnings.
“Importantly, it also includes information on how people who are currently suffering from fuel poverty can make the most of the financial and practical support to them to keep their homes warm, and advice on boilers and smart meters.
“I’d urge everyone to take a look at the advice and the useful and practical support available on gwynedd. llyw.cymru/winter and to save it as a favourite in case you may need it in the future.”
