Canaries have it all to do after defeat at Bala

-

CAERNARFON face an uphill struggle to make the JD Welsh Premier top six at the midseason split after going down 3-0 at Gwynedd rivals Bala on Friday.

Caernarfon failed to capitalise on several first-half chances before falling behind to a close-range header by an unmarked Sean Ebbe on 36 minutes.

Josh Bailey was sent off for the visitors for his second yellow-card offence just before the hour and Ollie Shannon stretched the hosts’ lead on 71 minutes, adding a third deep into time added on.

The result – and the six-goal swing in goal difference – makes the return fixture at the Oval effectively a must-win for the Canaries, who must also hope for some other results to go their way.

Another victory for Bala would seal their top-six spot with a game to spare (see table, right) while Caernarfon need to pick up points and hope Connah’s Quay Nomads falter in their remaining games.
