Apart-hotel and restaurant plan for centre of Abersoch

-

PLANS are in for an apart-hotel, restaurant and bar in the centre of Abersoch.

The Venetia site on Lon Sarn Bach had been a B&B and Italian restaurant.

It was sold for more than £700,000 in September 2019 by Marco Filippi and Jayne Edge.

The new owner did not run it as a restaurant and B&B and instead applied to turn the villa into holiday let units – but was turned down by planners.

Now a new proposal has been put forward by owner Peter Schofield.

Under the plan the ground floor of the existing main building would revert back to a restaurant, bar and kitchens.

The first floor of the building would go back to hotel use – with three bedroom serviced apart-hotel rooms.

An existing two-storey dwelling (previously hotel staff accommodation) to the rear of the site along with the existing singlestorey side extension to the Victorian villa would be demolished and a new extension built to accommodate an additional two apart-hotel rooms.

Owen Ellis Architects said: “The two-storey extension to the rear is essential to the commercial viability of the proposed scheme.

“The building is currently continuing to fall into a further state of disrepair. It is becoming a local eyesore.”

They added: “The hotel use will provide local employment and support the Welsh language.”

Planners on Gwynedd council will now consider the proposal.
