Driver, 26, who struck pedestrians admits to motoring offences
A MOTORIST has admitted driving without due care and attention and failing to stop at the scene of an accident which injured two pedestrians.
Robert Andrew Hughes, 26, was driving the Ford car in the incident in Morfa Nefyn last September 18.
A couple were taken to hospital with serious injuries after the crash which happened on the B4412 road at about 9.20pm.
Hughes pleaded guilty on Monday to a string of motoring offences at Caernarfon Magistrates Court.
Magistrates adjourned his case for a pre-sentence report for another hearing later this month.
Hughes admitted driving without due care
and attention, two counts of failing to stop at the scene of a road accident which injured Judith Roberts and Robert Roberts, as well as driving with no insurance all on September 18.
He also admits driving with no insurance and driving without a seatbelt the following day – September 19 last year.
Carys Parry, defending, said injuries were caused to two people in the first incident on September 18 and that her client faces a custodial sentence.
She added that traces of drugs were found in a blood sample given by Hughes and that there were also traces of alcohol. She noted however that there are no charges relating to drugs or alcohol but accepted that they will be “aggravating features” in his case.
Magistrates chairman Gordon Browne adjourned the case for a pre-sentence report later this month.
He told Hughes that all sentencing options were available.
He granted the defendant unconditional bail.
