POLICE APPEAL AFTER BURGLARY AT MANSION

-

AN appeal has been launched after a burglary at Plas Glynllifon, Caernarfon.

It is believed the mansion was targeted by burglars in the early hours of last Wednesday.

North Wales Police have asked if anybody saw something suspicious in the area at the time, to contact the force. There were no further details on what was taken.

A police spokesman said: “We are appealing for information after a burglary at the Glynllifon Mansion, Caernarfon. The burglary is believed to have taken place on 1st March into the early hours of 2nd March.

“Did you see any suspicious vehicles or people on the grounds or in the area at this time?”

The mansion near Caernarfon was sold at the end of 2020, to a Manchester developer, after going into receivership, following the failed attempt by Paul and Rowena Williams to develop it into a luxury hotel.

Plas Glynllifon is a grand neo-classical mansion built in the 1830/40s by Lord Newborough and sits on the site of a series of earlier houses and at the heart of an historical estate which exerted a profound influence over the landscapes and communities of Caernarfonshire for centuries.
