COMMUNITY RALLIES BEHIND FAMILY-OF-FOUR AFTER DEVASTATING HOUSE FIRE

- Harri Evans

AFUNDRAISER has been started for a family of four who “lost everything” when their home burnt down.

The fire took place a week last Sunday morning in Waunfawr and caused damage to a row of three properties in the village.

At 2.30pm, one of them was still burning as crews tried to dampen down the flames.

The roof belonging to the middle of the three affected houses collapsed, while efforts to extinguish the blaze fully continued. Luckily, no one was injured in the fire.

An online fundraiser has now been set up to support the Williams family, who “lost everything” in the blaze.

The fundraiser was set up by Mary Egan who wrote: “My good friend and her family lost their home and everything they have in a house fire yesterday.

“They really have lost everything.

“Any donation will help them financially whilst they start to rebuild their lives.

“Thankfully Emma, her husband, and their 2 boys, aged 10 and 16 years, are safe and well.”

The fundraiser has so far raised more than £3,900 for the Williams family.

A spokesperson for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received a call at 10:42 on Sunday morning to a fire that had spread across three properties in Waunfawr.

“Full hose reels, a triple extension ladder and an aerial ladder platform, and environmental pollution unit were used in the firefighting.

“The cause of the fire is still under investigation, though the fire involved an oil tank outside one of the properties which spread across the other two.

“Five pumps were in attendance from stations in Caernarfon, Harlech, Bangor, Conwy and Holyhead.”
