Emergency signal sent out by jet
A JET flying over Caernarfon transmitted an emergency signal on Friday afternoon.
The jet involved was a British Aerospace Hawk T2 model based at RAF Valley on Anglesey. The aircraft is reported to have sent the code 7700 – a sequence which typically indicates a general emergency – during the flight. A 7700 code usually means an engineering issue with the aircraft.
There is no indication of any serious incident and the code is routinely used in aviation for a wide variety of reasons.
The RAF has been contacted for comment.
