Airlift for stricken patient

A PATIENT was airlifted to Stoke following an incident on the Llŷn Peninsula.

Two air ambulances were called to Wern y Wylan in Criccieth at around 11.37am on Thursday re a “medical emergency”.

According to a witness, the two helicopter­s were on the ground for around an hour before the patient was conveyed to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

The nature of the medical emergency has not been disclosed.

In addition to the two air ambulances, the incident was attended by two ambulance crews and the coastguard.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokespers­on said: “We responded with two ambulances and two air ambulances.

“An adult patient was flown to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.”

An HM Coastguard spokespers­on said: “The Welsh Ambulance Service requested assistance from HM Coastguard with manning a helicopter landing site.

“The coastguard rescue team from Criccieth was sent to help.”

In a separate incident, medics were called to reports of an injured child in Malltraeth on Anglesey at 4.18pm.

The child was airlifted to Alder Hey in Liverpool after the incident was attended by an air ambulance as well as a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance crew.
