Pop singer Paul puts free drinks on tap

-

POP singer Paul Heaton offered punters at a North Wales pub free drinks on Monday after putting a sum of money behind bars at various boozers across the UK.

The Beautiful South singer confirmed he would be footing the bill at 60 pubs around the country that hold a special place in his heart.

Three of them were in Wales - and in North Wales he chose the Golden Fleece Inn in Porthmadog.

The kind gesture was part of his 60th birthday celebrations, taking place on Monday, May 9.

Many fans have been sharing photos on social media from across the UK thanking Paul for the free drinks.

Heaton made the announcement on his Twitter page, where has around 110,000 followers, and said he wanted to pay thanks to those who had supported him throughout his career.

Even though he didn’t confirm how much he had put behind the bar at some of his favourite boozers, he did encourage the locals to drink “until the bar runs dry”.

Heaton, wrote the following message on Twitter: “To celebrate my 60th birthday (on Monday, May 9) I’d originally intended to do another bicycle tour, visiting & performing at 60 pubs across the UK and Ireland.

“However, due to recording delays caused by the pandemic, I’ve had to shelve these plans for the time being.

“Instead, I’ve decided the next best way to celebrate this coming of age is to handpick 60 pub across the UK and Ireland and put a given amount of money behind the bar of each one.

“Then, both regulars and yourselves can enjoy a birthday drink on me (until the money runs out, or the bar runs dry!).”
