8 WAYS TO...

BREAK YOUR SUGAR ADDICTION

-

1. First things first, make a decision and stick to it.

2. Scrutinise food labels – you’ll be surprised how much sugar some foods contain.

3. Over time, reduce the amount of sugar you put in your teas and coffees or switch to sweeteners. Don’t forget most fruit juices are very high in sugar too, so limit how much you drink. 4. Having protein-rich meals that include meat, fish, eggs, nuts and seeds, above, will help.

5. Eat non-starchy vegetables such asparagus, green beans, mushrooms, onions, courgette, tomatoes, peppers and reduce the amount of potatoes and parsnips.

6. Incorporate healthy fats in your diet from nuts and seeds, avocado and fish, which contain omega-3 fatty acids.

7. Take note of how you manage your stress. When you’re stressed, your cortisol shoots up, which can increase sugar cravings. Learn some relaxation techniques.

8. If you don’t get enough sleep you tend to eat more calories, so revise your sleep schedule.
