Double donations at no extra cost to help heat hospice

-

ST David’s Hospice are taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge the UK’s biggest match-funded campaign, to raise £75,000 in just one week.

For seven days only, starting on the 29th November 12pm, the Big Give Challenge offers Hospice supporters the opportunity to double their donation at no cost to them, and in doing so, everyone can make an extraordinary difference to local hospice care.

These funds will be used towards the ‘Heat Our Hospice’ campaign.

Margaret Hollings, Commercial Director at St David’s Hospice explains:

“Through the winter of 2022, St David’s Hospice is set to receive the highest energy bills to date, with estimates predicted to triple our budgeted costs. At the same time, our key supporters are facing their own financial challenges in their own homes and communities.

“Heating our clinical centres is not negotiable at St David’s Hospice, as we must keep our patients and their families warm, safe and comfortable.

“In light of the ongoing UK energy crisis, St David’s Hospice has recently received a quote for £148,000 in energy costs, to heat our two main clinical sites in North West Wales this wintertime. This compares to an initial prediction of £47,000 before the war in Ukraine began.

“We are striving to keep our clinical services open, ensuring we are there for some of the most vulnerable people in our communities who are facing end of life. We do not want to have to consider a reduction in services due to rising costs.

“We’re encouraging everyone to give what they can this Christmasand we can DOUBLE it. That’s one donation, twice the impact! Please help us reach our target and enable us to carry on the work we all feel so passionately about.”

St David’s Hospice is an independent charity, caring for local people of Northwest Wales, delivering specialist care to adult patients with life-limiting illnesses or those in need of end-of-life care and their families. It offers 24-hour care, 365 days a year and is all free of charge, not cost to the patient or their loved ones.

Donations up to £37,500 to the ‘Heat Our Hospice’ will be generously matched by The Big Give’s Champions during the campaign, meaning your money will go twice as far.

If you would like to donate and help provide heating for patients in our clinical centres this wintertime, visit theBigGive.org.uk and search for ‘St David’s Hospice’. You can donate from now until Tuesday, 6th December at noon when the campaign will close.
