The Hospice are looking for people who are able and willing to give up a few hours of their week as a volunteer shop assistant.

The role involves; greeting and serving customers in a welcoming manner, assisting in stock management, manning the till and processing sales and helping to display items on the shop floor and replenishing stock.

If you would like a chance to be part of a great team, develop new skills and have fun all by supporting your local hospice, this could be the opportunity for you!

St David’s Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, Lou Barber explains:

“Volunteering in your local St Davids Hospice charity shop is a great way to get out and meet new people.

The funds raised in our shops make a real difference to the provision of end-of-life care here in North Wales and helps to support those with lifelimiting illnesses.

“Our amazing volunteers are at the heart of St David’s Hospice and the services we provide. We appreciate them every day and want to say an extra big thank you to them all for the difference they make. If you’ve ever considered the idea of volunteering, but just haven’t got round to making that first step, please get in touch for a chat.

“A couple of your hours will go a long way to making a difference to ensuring that the Hospice continues to provide the best level of care to patients and their families. So, if you decide to take the plunge and join our wonderful volunteer team, you’d really be doing something good.”

St David’s Hospice is a local charity, caring for local people, delivering specialist care to adult patients with life-limiting illnesses or those in need of end-of-life care and their families.

Every year, this touches the lives of over 1,000 people within our local communities from across the counties of Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey. We offer 24 hour care, 365 days a year providing a clinical service

alongside emotional, physical and spiritual support. In our Day Therapy Centres, we provide patient care, bereavement, and counselling services, whilst our Inpatient Units in Llandudno and Holyhead offer symptom control, respite, and end-of-life care.

This year it will cost over £6 million to run St David’s Hospice with just a small percentage of that figure coming from the Welsh Government and

Local Health Board. The majority of this comes from community fundraising. None of these costs are passed to the patients, their families or carers, because St David’s Hospice care is free to all.
