Well-known hotel for sale for £1.3m

-

A well known hotel and wedding venue in Gwynedd has been placed up for sale. Meifod House - outside Caernarfon - is an Edwardian Villa built in 1904 by the Brymer Family.

Trevor Brymer was the high sheriff of Caernarfon with former Prime Minister Lloyd George a regular guest at Meifod.

In recent decades it has been run as a small hotel and wedding venue hosting up to 50 weddings a year in its banqueting suite prior to the pandemic. The agent says it has been operating on a more “relaxed” basis in recent months due to health reasons.

Commercial agents Colliers said: “Meifod Country House Hotel has been sympathetically upgraded to provide a blend of character and modern facilities.

“!The hotel has been in private ownership forthe past 36 years and has been steadily improved and upgraded. Before the pandemic, the hotel traded as an exclusive use venue hosting around 50 weddings a year, as well as party nights, afternoon teas, as well as a popular destination hotel for guest visiting the area.

“In the last year or so, and due to health reasons, the hotel has been operated on a much more relaxed basis, trading bed & breakfast only, with the occasional funeral tea or small private party. Huge scope exists for its new owner therefore to upscale the business, and to re-establish the former business model.”

They added: “Meifod Country House Hotel is set in a characterful early 1900’s detached property of local construction and situated over three floors. The Orangery/banqueting suite was added more recently

“There are five en-suite bedrooms and suites, breakfast room, a purpose-built banqueting suite for around 150 guests, an equipped commercial grade kitchen and a beautiful drawing room which can offer afternoon teas for small to medium sized parties. The owners also have the benefit of a two-bedroom suite on the second floor and a private downstairs lounge.”

The hotel is on the market for £1.3m.
