Canaries hit back twice to earn draw

-

CAERNARFON Town were denied a precious away win at Haverfordwest County on Saturday, but hit back twice after falling behind to claim what could yet prove a valuable point in a still very tight JD Cymru Premier PlayOff Conference.

Tony Pennock’s men remain top and in pole position to claim the final Europa League play-off place after drawing 2-2 with the Canaries.

Jack Wilson put the hosts ahead in the 10th minute at Bridge Meadow, but Gruff Williams levelled for the visitors.

Substitute Kyle Patten restored the Bluebirds’ lead on 71 minutes, before an own goal from Henry Lloyd four minutes later earned Caernarfon parity again.

Pontypridd United climbed to second, three points behind Haverfordwest, after their 3-0 win at Airbus UK Broughton.

Aberystwyth Town and Flint Town United are now level on 32 points, five behind Haverfordwest, after David Evans’s stoppage-time goal earned Aberystwyth a 1-0 home win over Flint.

In the Championship Conference, champions The New Saints celebrated in front of their own fans with a 7-1 win over Cardiff Met University. Jack Veale put the visitors ahead in the fourth minute, but that was as good as it got for the students. Declan McManus equalised four minutes later, and Craig Harrison’s men never looked back.

Josh Daniels made it 2-1 on 20 minutes before Dan Redmond added a third minutes later. McManus got his second and Saints’ fourth just before the break, while Chris Marriott added to the visitors’ pain with a fifth. Ex-Wrexham star Adrian Cieslewicz came off the bench to add the sixth before Gwion Dafydd wrapped up the scoring in stoppage time.

Third-placed Penybont drew 2-2 at home to fifth-placed Bala Town thanks to Kane Owen’s late leveller.

Third-placed Connah’s Quay Nomads earned a 2-0 home win over sixth-placed Newtown.
