MAN IN HOSPITAL AS FIRE DESTROYS CARAVAN AND TWO VEHICLES
A MAN was taken to hospital for precautionary checks after a fire destroyed a caravan and two vehicles.
It happened during the early hours of Saturday morning at a camp site in Abersoch.
Dramatic pictures and video show a plume of smoke pouring into the sky above the holiday park.
The footage - filmed from a nearby field last night - also shows a line of flames raging above the hedge bordering the site.
A spokeswoman for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service [NWFRS] confirmed that three teams were dispatched to the Cim Farm holiday rental site on Abersoch in the early hours of the morning at around 2.10am.
Crews from Pwllheli and Nefyn attended until about 4.30am on June 3.
The blaze involved a caravan and awning but it spread to the cars which were parked close to the caravan. An investigation is now under way, the spokeswoman confirmed, to establish the cause of the fire.
Some shared details of the frightening experience online in the aftermath of the incident.
One praised fellow campers and staff, saying: “Due to the quick actions of everybody and the layout of the site, it was thankfully only one unfortunate seasonal pitch that was damaged.”
Another said: “Waking up in the next field to someone screaming for a fire extinguisher, was so scary and sad.” A third wrote: “I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the professionalism and speed at which the Fire Service responded last night - absolutely superb and big thanks to all, including Police and Ambulance service.
Very frightening to witness first hand but again thankfully nobody hurt.”
