Top techno tunes will blast out at 24th MOK Fest

-

RAVE legends The Time Frequency will headline as MOK Fest celebrates two dozen years.

The Time Frequency (TTF) will top the bill on Saturday August 20 in Victoria Hall and promise to deliver a show to remember.

Founded in the 1990, the band are one of Scotland’s first techno groups and during the 1990s had chart success with a number of hit singles including ‘The Ultimate High’ and ‘New Emotion.’

TTF have just released their first album in 15 years and are touring to sell-out audiences across Scotland and the UK.

TTF will be support- ed by DJ Rankin, who started life as a teenage underground sensation before establishing himself on the circuit. Kintyre rockers Gullion, who have recently performed at the Kintyre Songwriters Festival, complete the Saturday night line-up.

Traditional

Headlining the Heritage Centre’s traditional concert on the same night is Wendy MacIsaac, who flies in from Cape Breton to play at this year’s event.

Wendy is a fiddle, piano player and step-dancer who has been performing for more than 30 years.

She will also run music and dance workshops during MOK Fest.

Finlay MacDonald, who has blazed a trail as one of the country’s finest exponents of contemporary and traditional piping, will accompany Wendy and also perform a solo slot at the concert.

Gillian Frame on vocals and fiddle and Jen Butterworth on guitar will play support, performing a set of songs and tunes, including some from Gillian’s latest disc Pendulum. Arthur Johnstone will MC the concert.

MOK Fest, from August 17 to 21, has secured other top class national and international acts for the main concerts, including Ceol an Aire, Jean-Michel Veillon, Slainte Davaar Allstars and the Kintyre Schools Pipe Band.

Popular

The festival ceilidh night on August 19 sees popular Oban based band Ceol an Aire making their debut at the MOK Fest playing this year’s set.

Another band making their first appearance at the Festival is the Hollow Mountain String Band who will take us on a journey via bluegrass, old time honkey-tonk with further adventures in ragtime and blues.

The Dalriada Connections Band return following a fantastic set last year to open the concert. Kay Johnston will MC the night that starts with a performance by the Kintyre Schools Pipe Band.

Following another successful concert last year, the Gaelic concert returns to Ceol Campbeltown, Seafield on Wednesday August 17 with a grand ceilidh featuring great tunes, stories, songs and fantastic chorus singing.
