Swarms of midges put wings on runners’ heels
ATHLETES competing in the second South Kintyre Sports Council (SKSC) handicap race faced a tough 5k pursued by midges.
Although the little beasts added to the drama for the runners, and the timekeepers who had to stand still for 20 minutes, the Ballochgair evening event proved a testing trial.
First across the line was Euan Charlwood, followed by Elaine McGeachy and in third, William McLean.
A spokesperson said: ‘A big thanks to the race marshals and anybody who provided post race treats. Also, thanks to everyone who came along to support this event.’
