A BAR more famous for its cocktails shook up punters’ brains in order to raise money for Kurt Smiley and his family.

The quiz, organised by head bartender Nicola Forshaw, took place last Tuesday and saw £1,175 raised to help the family as Kurt continues his battle against cancer.

More than 20 teams competed, with Whisky Mac’s opening up the dance floor to accommodate all the challengers.

Local favourite Jamie G hosted the evening.

The winning team bagged a meal each at the venue, while second place scooped a round of cocktails.

Nicola said: ‘The night was so successful. A lot of the funds raised came from our raffle, with lots of donations from local businesses and a few from national companies, such as McVitie’s and Tunnock’s.

‘I’d like to thank them for all their donations and everyone for coming along and making it such a great evening.

‘Kurt means a lot to me and I really hope this money can help him and his family through this difficult time.’

Kurt’s mum Jo said: ‘Whisky Mac’s did a fantastic job in the organising, running and hosting. You all did Kurt proud.

‘A big thank you to everyone who got raffle tickets and who went along on the night.’

Kurt’s separate GoFundMe page has now reached £4,940.
