-

A CARRADALE farm bagged three of the five main prizes at the 35th annual Kintyre Prime Stock Breeders competition.

Held last Thursday on a dry, occasionally sunny day, Dippen took the best calf, best team of calves and best overall herd honours, while Killegruer won best cow and Kilwhipnach claimed opposite season calf.

At the start of the competition, chairman Duncan Semple introduced judge George Harvey, Balfron, to around 50 enthusiasts, who followed the contest as it called around several Kintyre farms throughout the day.

At the close of play, in the Argyll Hotel in Campbeltown, vice-chairman Hamish Morrison named the winners and thanked the sponsors, the judge for giving his time, the competitors, and all who made the event a success.
