Sports award winners will be announced today
THE CHAMPIONS of this year’s Argyll and Bute Sports Awards will be announced via an online ceremony this afternoon.
Argyll and Bute Council teamed up with sportscotland to host the awards and pay tribute to unsung local sporting heroes.
Policy lead for community and culture, councillor Robin Currie said: ‘There are many people in our communities who go that extra mile for sports in their area and these awards are the perfect opportunity for their hard work and dedication to be acknowledged.’

Kintyre coaches and volunteers to keep an eye out for are:
Community coach of the year: Ailie MacBrayne and Florence Chrystie, Dunaverty Golf Club; Darren Renton, Campbeltown Pupils; Sid Gallagher, Kintyre Canoe Club; Moira McLellan, South Kintyre Active Schools and Jog Scotland; Donald Campbell, Campbeltown Running Club.
Youth coach of the year: Donald Campbell, Campbeltown Running Club (junior section); David Paterson, Campbeltown and District Junior Football.
Active Schools volunteer: Erin Corbett and Gregor Mitchell, Islay; Alison Millar, South Kintyre.
Service to sport: Lesley Scott, Tarbert Jog Scotland, South Kintyre Sports Council. Club of the year: Tarbert Jog Scotland, Campbeltown Running Club.
