Former captain sinks hole in one at RNLI contest

-

A FORMER Dunaverty Golf Club captain downed the first hole in one in the history of the Lifeprize boat Open competition. The 42nd playing of the match was held at Dunaverty on Saturday September 3 when 129 golfers took part on the rain-threatened day, with occasional showers splashing several of the golfers who braved the elements.

Donald Taylor had his hole in one at the seventh, believed to be the first ever hole in one at the Lifeboat Open. Kenny Cameron and Alan Crawford took the men’s handicap and scratch titles respectively, with Nichola MacNeil and Ailie MacBrayne taking the top spots in the ladies section.

Campbeltown RNLI are grateful to the club for organising the event and to all who helped on the day. They are also thankful to the businesses, individuals and fishing vessels for donating prizes.

They also wished for a special mention to be made to the Christmas Lights Committee for providing food and drinks on the day, commenting the lentil soup warmed many who completed their round in the rain.

Any prize-winners who have not received their prize should contact Campbeltown lifeboat station.
