Carradale golf club’s ladies record smashed

A GLASGOW golfer had a spectacula­r doon the watter match, winning the Carradale 2017 ladies’ open and breaking the record.

At the recent event Fiona Rattray returned a 64 (net 58) setting a new course record.

The top three results are as follows. Handicap: 1 Fiona Rattray (Douglas Park) net 58 *(course record 64), 2 Jennifer Owen (Old Ranfurly) net 64 and 3 Ele Hunter (Lochgilphe­ad) net 65. Scratch: 1 Laura McGeachy (Haggs Castle) 67, 2 Mairi Pollock (Craigmilla­r Park) 76 (BIH) and 3 Ann May (Brodick) 76.

With 45 entries and CSS 65 the prize-winners were as follows: Sponsored prizes: Nearest the line 4th/13th (Springbank Whisky): Jennifer Owen (Old Ranfurly). Nearest the pin 8th/16th (A&J Brown): Alice Anderson (Shiskine). Silver nearest the pin in two 6th/15th (Jewellery Casting Scotland): Fiona Henderson (Shiskine). Silver longest drive 9th/18th (Campbeltow­n Creamery): Laura McGeachy (Haggs Castle). Bronze nearest the pin in two 3rd/12th (Kintyre Smokehouse): Margaret McFarlane (Dunaverty). Bronze longest drive 5th/14th (Glen Bar & Restaurant): Donna McKellar (Lochgilphe­ad). Magic 2s: Laura McGeachy 1st, Margaret McFarlane 1st, Ann May 8th and Alice Anderson 17th.

A Carradale ladies’ spokespers­on said: ‘Many thanks to all who took part and who helped the club have another very successful ladies’ open day.’
