Show jumpers dazzle at Tayinloan

-

MARIJE Terpstra on Mini showed a clean set of hooves at Argyll Riding Club’s annual show to take the champion’s prize.

The recent show saw 45 competitors participate across numerous classes at Ferry Farm, Tayinloan, by kind permission of Lorraine and Alasdair Aitken.

Range

There was a range of rider ages, abilities and horse types from the smallest of Shetland ponies to the impressive size of the Clydesdale cross.

Ridden and in-hand showing classes were run in the morning, followed by jumping classes in the afternoon.

Working hunter classes demonstrated the ridden horses’ paces and jumping style while, in the showjumping, classes winners were determined through a combination of accuracy and speed.

A spokesperson said: ‘The day proved to be a huge success with even the weather staying bright and dry for most of the day with the slightest of breezes to keep the midges away.

‘The day would not have been possible without the help of the riding club committee and volunteers and many thanks go to the judges, who were Rhoda Munro, Eilidh McCrone and Susan Wood.

‘Special thanks also need to go to the many sponsors who contributed towards the cost of the fabulous ribbons and gift bags given to the prize winners’.

Although the day is predominantly about fun and inclusion for all levels of equestrian, there are of course winners.
