Am­a­teur ac­tors in­vited to AGM

All am­a­teur drama en­thu­si­asts, young and old, are cor­dially in­vited to at­tend the Ar­gyll-Kin­tyre District Com­mit­tee of the Scot­tish Com­mu­nity Drama As­so­ci­a­tion’s AGM. Any am­a­teur drama groups who wish to get in­volved in the drama fes­ti­val next year will also be wel­comed at the meet­ing in the Ar­gyll Arms Ho­tel, Camp­bel­town, on Thurs­day Septem­ber 27, at 7pm. Fe­bru­ary 2019 is the drama fes­ti­val’s 70th an­niver­sary year and the com­mit­tee is hop­ing for a large num­ber of en­tries to cel­e­brate this pres­ti­gious event. The first Kin­tyre-Ar­gyll drama fes­ti­val was held in the town hall in 1949 and fea­tured teams from Machri­han­ish, St Kieran’s Church, Lorne Street Church, High­land Church, Tayin­loan Play­ers and Drum­lem­ble Youth Club. Hilda McS­por­ran, who is still an ac­tive mem­ber of Pen­in­ver Play­ers Drama Club, per­formed in the 1949 fes­ti­val as a young mem­ber of Machri­han­ish Drama Club.
