New bin day calendars are being sent out to households across the region. There is no change to the days on which bins are emptied or how often but the new calendars will last the next 12 months and replace the old ones that are due to run out. The calendars will start arriving in Kintyre, Islay, Jura and Mid-Argyll from this week and will reach Oban and Lorn, Helensburgh and Lomond, Tiree, Colonsay, Lismore and Coll from October 15. Policy lead for roads and amenity services Councillor Roddy McCuish said the amount of waste being recycled continued to increase which was saving the council more money to spend on core services. He said: ‘Thanks to everyone for supporting our efforts to reduce waste and recycle more – we’re delighted residents are working with us. ‘The more waste we recycle, the more money we save. That means more money to protect our core services that we know are important to people.’
