A83 Task Force driven for­ward

Af­ter last week’s clo­sure of the Rest and Be Thank­ful, the A83 Task Force will hold an ur­gent meet­ing next month. Trans­port Sec­re­tary Michael Matheson, the fourth to serve since the Task Force’s for­ma­tion, may face a hos­tile re­cep­tion at the Loch Fyne Ho­tel in In­ver­aray at 9.30am on Novem­ber 15 when the meet­ing con­venes. Ar­gyll First Coun­cil­lor Don­ald Kelly was re­ported in daily pa­pers on Wed­nes­day say­ing if there is not a per­ma­nent so­lu­tion he will organise a Holy­rood block­ade. This week the Old Mil­i­tary Road in the val­ley floor has pro­vided some relief since open­ing on Mon­day. As the Courier went to press, work was con­tin­u­ing above the main A83 car­riage­way.
