Booming primary ones are picture perfect pupils

Campbeltown Courier - - PRIMARY ONES - Photographs by Hannah O’Hanlon and Mark Davey editor@campbeltown

Kintyre’s youth population is booming, if the number of primary ones starting school is anything to go by. This year 81 youngsters took their first steps into formal education at Castlehill, Dalintober, Carradale, Southend, Drumlemble, Glenbarr, Clachan and Gigha primary schools on August 14. Last year, 72 children started school, and in 2016, there were 62 primary ones. An increase of almost 20 pupils in two years means that the new, £26 million Campbeltown Grammar School should be packed with eager learners for years to come. Although the youngsters’ photographs featured in Wyvex Media’s souvenir supplement a couple of weeks ago, the Courier is proud to publish them as well.
