Pedestrians in Campbeltown’s Main Street had a lucky escape on Tuesday when a pane of glass fell from the top of a building and crashed on to the pavement below. Shards of glass littered the street but thankfully none landed on anyone or anything, with police officers blaming the incident on the blustery weather. A spokesperson said: ‘There was no other apparent dangerous windows and an occupier of one of the buildings said they would inform the owner of the building concerned.’ Pedestrians battling across the Esplanade did not have to contend with flying panes of glass but they did have huge ocean waves crashing over the wall soaking them. Motorists also faced obstacles, with a number of reported fallen trees across Kintyre, but most were dealt with quickly, causing minimal disruption.

Waves crashed over the wall at the Esplanade and soaked pedestrians and cars. 50_c48weather03
