Mu­si­cal mae­stro is a con­duct­ing cham­pion

A Camp­bel­town con­duc­tor is cel­e­brat­ing af­ter his brass band hit the right notes on its way to a fourth con­sec­u­tive Scot­tish cham­pi­onship ti­tle. Mark Good guided In­ver­clyde-based River­side Youth Band to vic­tory in the De­vel­op­ment, aged 16-and-un­der, sec­tion at the re­cent Scot­tish Youth Brass Band Cham­pi­onships in Perth Con­cert Hall. It fol­lowed vic­to­ries in the same class in 2017 and 2016, and the 14-and-un­der class in 2015. The for­mer Camp­bel­town Gram­mar School and Dal­in­to­ber Pri­mary pupil en­joys a busy ca­reer as mu­si­cal di­rec­tor of River­side Youth and Ren­frew Burgh bands, as well as teach­ing at In­ver­clyde Mu­sic Cen­tre. The 28-year-old com­bines these roles with his po­si­tion as a com­mu­ni­ca­tions of­fi­cer at his alma mater, the Royal Con­ser­va­toire of Scot­land.
