SWI’s Christ­mas meet­ing is a cracker

Bel­lochan­tuy SWI’s lat­est meet­ing was jam-packed with Christ­mas cheer. Guest speaker for the event on Mon­day Novem­ber 19, was well known Camp­bel­to­nian Pat McPher­son, of Kin­tyre Pre­serves. Mrs McPher­son re­tired from teach­ing French at Camp­bel­town Gram­mar School, only to find a se­cond ca­reer mak­ing jams, chut­neys and mar­malades. Her story be­gan with her granny’s recipe book and, af­ter her own ex­per­i­men­ta­tion, ended in suc­cess, par­tic­u­larly win­ning a sil­ver award at the World’s Orig­i­nal Mar­malade Awards and Fes­ti­val, held at Dale­main Man­sion near Pen­rith, Cum­bria, in 2012. Mrs McPher­son later judged the SWI com­pe­ti­tions which con­tin­ued the Christ­mas theme. Re­sults: Christ­mas chut­ney: Libby Kerr, sil­ver; Lois Fell, red.
