High spirits at Hogmanay bash
As Campbeltown Town Hall clock struck midnight on Hogmanay, revellers inside the building toasted 2019. A countdown timer projected on the wall inside gave everybody at the New Year’s Eve party plenty of time to prepare for ‘the bells’. Music was provided by Argyll-based band Treble Trouble, while a buffet of Scottish fare added to the traditional event. Campbeltown Grammar School-educated Neil McNaughton, who is head of bagpipes for the Royal Cavalry of the Sultanate of Oman, piped in the new year as everybody in the room crossed arms in celebration. Gold party hats added to the festive atmosphere and ensured the new year was brought in in style. On behalf of Treble Trouble, member George Durnan said: ‘What a fabulous night to welcome in the new year. ‘There was a great atmosphere in Campbeltown Town Hall and first-class hospitality from all the town hall team. ‘It was our pleasure and privilege to perform and entertain everyone at such a fabulous venue.’ A spokesperson for the town hall said: ‘A special mention to everyone in the town hall team, particularly Bobby Cairns, Morag McMillan, Tina, Peter and Felicity. ‘Thanks also to Willie Durnan for the amazing lighting inside and out, to Neil McNaughton who piped in the New Year, to the fantastic Treble Trouble who had everyone on their feet from the start of the evening until the very end and finally to everyone who joined us in making it a night to remember. ‘Happy New Year everyone and may 2019 bring you everything you wish for.’
